orange appreciation

After my green phase a few posts ago, Vanessa suggested I try doing an orange theme. Jo read that post and has jumped into orange herself (see her post today for some interesting information on the colour orange and some scrumptious photos). As I've been quite low over the last week, avoiding my studio and life in general, doing nothing creative, the search for orange seemed like a very therapeutic idea. Especially since orange is associated with healing, vitality, enthusiasm, creativity, and exploration. I've been keeping my eyes open over the past several days for orange and realize that we have no orange in our garden (the photo above is from another garden) and very few orange possessions. I did manage to cobble together an orange collage using some things I found around the house. Some of the objects are obvious and some less so. Can you identify them all?

The appreciation to which I referred in my title is the appreciation and warm fuzzy glow that I felt when I received a nomination for a Brillante Weblog Award from Vanessa today. How nice! It's great to be appreciated and the idea is to spread that appreciation around the blogosphere!

Here are the rules:

  1. Put the logo on your blog
  2. Add a link to the person who nominated you
  3. Nominate at least 7 other blogs
  4. Add links to those blogs on your blog
  5. Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs

So thanks Vanessa! And here are my 7 nominated blogs:

  1. mystory
  2. ronna's blog
  3. red red day
  4. ro bruhn art
  5. carol crafts
  6. judy wise
  7. shayla perreault newcomb

Ooh! I love the orange collage. AND, I love puzzles..so...I think you have a pamplet from Chicago, a vegetable/fruit net bag, electrical extension cord, carrots, a backpack(the velcro clasp thingy), a container lid?, an orange rain poncho, no, a plastic bag?, scissor handles, ok, the middle one is really tough...either the spines of binders or small tool boxes/bead boxes. You MUST tell us tomorrow what everything is!

So Funny!! After reading about your search for "more green things" I thought to myself: Kate you need orange, not more green, a color that keeps things the same. And wonder of nature.... the blogosphere has sent you the message! It showed me the power of thoughts.

I like the idea of color composition, I've tried it a few times......

You have some lovely finds in the collage.....

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your comments all! Lots of orange fans. Bravo Vanessa, you were an excellent guesser...you got most of them! Here are the items: The cover of The Chigago Manual of Style (well-known to all us copyeditors); an onion net bag; scissors handles; easy-to-open Motrin lid (much needed at that time of the month); binders; extension cord; carrots; a personal flotation device (life jacket); orange plastic garbage bag.

I followed your lead and piled up a bunch of orange things for a photo. I used this in a couple ways for a collage about orange. So, the orange theme has gone full circle for me. Have a delightful weekend!

orange is one of the colours I love best and there's lot of orange in our living-room. It's warm and happy!
But it would be interesting to "collect" some things you like in colours you don't like or which mean absolutely nothing to you....
