When I saw my friend Laurie Boisvert's latest piece, "the wives", I was awestruck. She has created a series of silver lockets to represent each of Henry VIII's wives. I find this work to be very evocative and a good balance between well-conceived and visceral. You won't see these lockets on her website - these photos were taken by one of the galleries that show her work - but you will find many more fascinating pieces on her shiny objects site. She has given her permission for me to share them with you here. Enjoy...

this is one wonderful and interesting work...Makes me wanting to know more (actually: SOMETHING)about the wifes of Henry Vlll.
It's appealing to try to show the soul and spirit of something or somebody through your work.
Beautiful!
oooh especially like the one with paper
I can see why you love this piece - her work is stunning.
Provocative work Kate...I crave art that has something to say...This is screaming out loud...beautifully crafted too.
These are so wonderfully unusual! Thanks so much for sharing them Kate.
All...thanks for sharing your appreciative comments. I'm sure Laurie appreciated them as well.
Uschi...I know what you mean! After seeing this work it compelled me to actually go online and learn a bit more about the wives and now I see even more connections.
Kate...I'm partial to the paper one too. I love them all but my favourites are the 3 lockets of the Catherines.
Congratulations! All of these pieces are amazing...Roxanne
