March 6th. On to Charlotte! A very contemporary city...clean and sparkly. Lots of reflective glass and some great public sculpture (including some pieces I recognized by Italian sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro and Swiss scultor Jean Tinguley).

i am so pleased you found the Tingley! It seems like a hidden treasure.
The guy whose family commissioned this has offered the city a huge collection of art--they need only to build a museum. They have a great Niki de saint phalle hidden away too, being fixed up for the front of the museum, i guess.
mansuetude...yes we found the Tinguley! It really was tucked away! Didn't find the Niki Saint Phalle though.
