backtracking 5/8: the angel oak

Before we headed to Charlotte we made a side trip to the Angel Oak Tree, believed to be over 1500 years old. When I was alone with the tree I just placed my hands on its trunk and wept. It made quite an impact on me...

that looks like a worthy trip... have to set a date for Charleston. It feels so old there, so good, like Boston, but haunted along the old docks.

Thank you for sharing images of this magnificent old tree-- it looks incredible-- I may have wept myself seeing it in person.

mansuetude...haunted is a good word to describe Charleston. They even have ghosts and graveyard walking tours.

It's a amzing tree. I live in the Netherlands so i only know it from the internet. But i'm making a big stippeldrawing of it with a lot of detail and it's really a sculpture on it's own. If you want to check out my drawing you can find it here: http://mbkkr.deviantart.com/art/WIP-Angel-Oak-Aug2009-133372672
Thanx for doing so, it's much appriciated.
